This past January, I gave a presentation about insulin resistance and Alzheimer’s Disease at LowCarbUSA in West Palm Beach, Florida. While there, I had the pleasure of meeting Canadian clinical nutritionist and emotional-eating specialist Stephanie Dodier. She graciously invited me to have an in-depth conversation about food and emotional health, and just posted our discussion on her Beyond the Food podcast: “Emotional Eating with Dr. Georgia Ede: Root causes and a 5-part solution.”
In this episode, we cover a variety of topics, including:
- My personal story of how I solved my own perplexing medical problems by making changes to my diet. This experience inspired me to pursue the study of food science and incorporate nutrition consultation into my previously conventional psychiatric practice.
- The food-mood connection—how food choices, childhood upbringing and current environmental factors all intertwine to drive emotional eating, hormonal imbalance, and mood swings.
- My top 5 recommendations for people struggling with emotional issues who are interested in non-medication approaches
I hope you enjoy the episode, and I encourage you to share it with others who may find it helpful!
